Dr. Denise Howard is Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, Vice Chair in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Cornell Medicine, and Associate Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology. A physician executive and academic leader, she has built a career advancing women’s health, clinical quality, access to care, and system-level innovation across U.S. and international healthcare environments. Her leadership spans clinical operations, academic medicine, and enterprise transformation, with a sustained focus on improving outcomes for women and underserved populations.
In her current role, Dr. Howard has transformed women’s health services in Brooklyn by centering quality, access, community engagement, and innovative care delivery models. She emphasizes mentorship, team-based culture, and cross-enterprise collaboration to address complex health needs at scale. Working closely with hospital leadership and community stakeholders, she has expanded services, strengthened education and outreach, and developed sustainable solutions tailored to local health realities—demonstrating how academic medicine can integrate population health with operational excellence. A strong advocate for proactive, technology-enabled healthcare, Dr. Howard believes the sector is poised to shift toward prevention, wellness, and system resilience. She serves as a Senior Executive Fellow at The Digital Economist, Faculty Fellow at the Cornell Joan Klein Jacobs Center for Precision Nutrition & Health, and Medical Advisor to Obie Health, where she explores how digital tools, clinical research, and product innovation can deliver equitable care, reduce provider burnout, and improve system efficiency. Her work bridges clinical practice, research, and technology development in collaboration with Weill Cornell Medicine, Cornell Tech, and Cornell University.
