Medaria Arradondo

About

Medaria Arradondo is a public safety leader with more than three decades of service with the City of Minneapolis. He served as Chief of Police from 2017 to 2022, leading an organization of more than 1,100 employees responsible for providing public safety services to over 430,000 residents, workers, and visitors. During his tenure, he oversaw departmental operations, budget priorities, and organizational initiatives focused on accountability, transparency, and community engagement. His leadership included advancing programs and policies related to diversity, equity, and public safety while serving as a public-facing representative of the department across civic institutions, educational forums, and community organizations.

Prior to serving as Chief of Police, Arradondo held several senior leadership roles within the Minneapolis Police Department, including Deputy Chief, Chief of Staff (2015–2017), and Inspector of the First Precinct (2013–2015). In these roles, he supported operational execution of department-wide initiatives, policy implementation, and coordination between departmental leadership and city government. His work included facilitating leadership communications with the Mayor’s Office and City Council and contributing to governance and operational management across the department.

Today, Arradondo advises organizations on crisis leadership, institutional ethics, and leadership preparedness, drawing on decades of experience in public service and decision-making in high-visibility environments. As a 2026 Senior Executive Fellow in Applied Artificial Intelligence at The Digital Economist, he contributes perspectives on crisis leadership, public trust, and the ethical implications of emerging technologies in public systems.
