Nancy Kgengwenyane is an environmental and natural resources lawyer with extensive experience across mineral resources development, water, energy, environmental and climate governance, and Indigenous knowledge systems. She works at national, regional, and international levels, applying a human-rights-based approach to sustainable development that integrates environmental governance, democratic governance, and access to justice. Her expertise also spans intellectual property rights, good governance, anti-corruption, and public sector reform, positioning her at the intersection of law, sustainability, and human development.
Nancy’s career includes advisory roles with the Government of Botswana, UNDP, the USAID Integrated River Basin Management Project, and UNECA, where she supported natural resource development, climate initiatives, and governance reform programs. She holds a Master of Environmental Law from the University of Sydney and an LLB from the University of Botswana, grounding her practice in rigorous legal scholarship and applied policy work. As a Senior Executive Fellow at The Digital Economist, Nancy contributes to research and thought leadership at the intersection of environmental law, sustainability, and climate policy. Her work supports global initiatives aimed at aligning governance frameworks, technological innovation, and natural resource management with long-term sustainable development goals.
