About the job

We are looking for a sharp, organized, and commercially minded Business Development Representative to drive pipeline for TDE’s revenue-generating programs: the Executive Fellowship and the Institutional Research Network (IRN). This is a quota-adjacent, relationship-first role for someone who is analytical enough to build a real pipeline and personable enough to represent TDE in front of senior executives, policymakers, and institutional leaders.

You will work closely with the CMO to research, qualify, and engage prospective Fellows and institutional partners, turning TDE’s brand and convening presence into a structured, trackable revenue pipeline. This role is the front line of TDE’s growth engine and offers direct exposure to enterprise and institutional sales motions within a mission-driven organization.

Qualifications

Who Are You

  • 1–3 years of experience in business development, sales, account management, or client-facing strategy, agency, consulting, or institutional environments are a strong fit
  • Comfortable with data: you can build a customer segmentation model, read a conversion funnel, and turn numbers into a clear story
  • A confident, professional communicator who can represent TDE credibly with senior executives and institutional stakeholders
  • Organized and process-driven, you keep a pipeline clean and follow through on every lead
  • Proficient in Excel and Power BI, with the ability to build dashboards and track performance independently
  • Genuinely curious about the digital economy, emerging technology, and global governance
  • Demonstrated ability to own a metric and move it — whether that is acquisition, conversion, or campaign performance

Preferred Background

  • Experience in client-facing roles within marketing, advertising, healthcare, or professional services
  • Exposure to CRM tools (HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, or similar) and pipeline management
  • Strong analytical toolkit,  Excel (advanced), Power BI, SPSS, R, or Stata
  • Experience building acquisition strategies using segmentation, demographic analysis, or competitive benchmarking
  • A track record of measurable impact,  you can point to a number you moved and explain how
Responsibilities

Pipeline Generation & Outreach

  • Research and build target lists of prospective Fellows, IRN members, and institutional partners across corporate, government, and academic sectors
  • Conduct outbound outreach via email, LinkedIn, and phone to generate qualified leads for the Executive Fellowship and IRN
  • Use customer segmentation and competitive benchmarking to identify and prioritize high-value prospects
  • Maintain and manage a clean, accurate pipeline in TDE’s CRM, tracking outreach, conversion, and next steps

Qualification & Conversion

  • Qualify inbound leads generated by marketing campaigns, events, and TDE’s global convening presence
  • Conduct discovery conversations to understand prospect needs and route qualified opportunities to the CMO and senior leadership
  • Build and refine messaging and outreach sequences based on performance data and conversion insights
  • Track and report on key pipeline metrics conversion rates, response rates, time-to-close, to inform strategy

Reporting & Dashboards

  • Build and maintain Power BI or Excel dashboards tracking pipeline health, conversion funnels, and revenue attainment against targets
  • Translate raw outreach and CRM data into clear, actionable reporting for the CMO and leadership team
  • Monitor campaign and channel performance to identify where pipeline is converting most efficiently

Event & Convening Support

  • Support pipeline-building activity around TDE’s global convenings, including Davos, UNGA, and the Innovation Hub Social Hour series
  • Coordinate follow-up outreach and lead capture from events, ensuring no relationship goes untracked
  • Represent TDE in early-stage conversations with prospective Fellows and institutional partners
Why The Digital Economist

  • Direct mentorship from the CMO with ownership over a real, trackable pipeline
  • Exposure to enterprise and institutional sales motions within a mission-driven organization
  • Visibility into TDE’s global convenings and the leaders and institutions that attend them
  • A mission-driven, intellectually engaged team that moves with purpose
  • Clear growth path toward a senior business development or partnerships role as TDE scales
  • Flexible, globally distributed work environment
