Ashok Patel is a physician, health educator, and systems-oriented leader focused on advancing human-centered healthcare innovation within complex clinical and social environments. As a Senior Executive Fellow in Healthcare Innovation at The Digital Economist, his work explores how human factors, systems science, and collaborative learning models can improve care delivery, support peace-building, and enable durable, values-driven change across health systems.
A practicing pulmonary medicine consultant and health educator at Mayo Clinic since 1987, Ashok brings decades of frontline clinical experience to questions of institutional design, team-based problem-solving, and ethical leadership. His interests center on global, collaborative approaches to complex challenges—bridging medicine, education, and social innovation to foster altruism, trust, and shared responsibility within healthcare and beyond. Ashok’s leadership extends into civic, humanitarian, and strategic domains. He is a long-standing member of Rotary International, a civilian participant in the US Army War College CNSP program (Class of 2014), and served as Chairperson of Rochesterfest 2024. Through ongoing engagement with think tanks, advisory boards, nonprofits, and professional societies, he continues to advance health equity, peace, and goodwill through systems-level, human-centered action.
