Sonia Arenaza is a global expert in digital finance and emerging financial infrastructure, with more than two decades of experience operating at the intersection of blockchain, tokenization, AI-enabled financial services, and public policy. Her work focuses on translating frontier technologies into secure, inclusive, and scalable financial systems across diverse regulatory and market contexts.

Sonia currently advises the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP) at the World Bank, supporting digital finance initiatives spanning stablecoins, tokenized assets, SupTech, and inclusive payment infrastructures. Across senior roles at Meta, BNY Mellon, Accion, the Inter-American Development Bank, and multiple United Nations agencies, she has helped shape first-mover digital currency strategies, institutional tokenization frameworks, and cross-border payment models at national and global scale. In parallel, Sonia is the Managing Director of Inclusive Innovations, a boutique advisory firm supporting multilaterals, financial institutions, and startups navigating digital asset adoption in emerging and developed markets. She also serves on advisory boards for women-led fintech ventures, contributing a practitioner’s perspective on governance, product design, and policy alignment. As a Senior Executive Fellow in Digital Assets and Blockchain at The Digital Economist, she brings a systems-level lens to questions of institutional adoption, regulatory coordination, and the future of trusted digital financial infrastructure.
