Tasha (TC) Cooper, Esq., is an attorney, AI governance strategist, and executive advisor specializing in the governance, risk, and leadership challenges of emerging technologies. She is the Founder of UpwardAction® Advisory, where she works with boards, legal counsel, and senior executives—particularly in highly regulated industries such as financial services, insurance, and law—to build the governance infrastructure needed to operationalize AI with confidence, accountability, and strategic discipline. Her work focuses on helping organizations move beyond experimentation toward scalable, risk-aligned AI adoption through practical governance frameworks and executive leadership.
With more than 25 years of experience spanning law, regulation, and organizational leadership, Tasha has held senior roles across the public and private sectors, including serving as Chief Privacy Officer and Senior Agency Official for Privacy within the U.S. federal government, where she oversaw privacy and governance for systemically important financial institutions managing trillions of dollars in assets. Her career also includes experience in Big Law, public company legal leadership, and entrepreneurship. As an AI Governance Professional (AIGP) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), she advises organizations on governance architectures informed by leading frameworks, enabling responsible innovation while strengthening transparency, accountability, and enterprise resilience.
As a 2026–27 Senior Executive Fellow in Tech Policy and Governance at The Digital Economist, Tasha contributes expertise on AI governance, regulatory strategy, privacy, and responsible technology adoption.
