Tom Kiernan is a conservation and clean energy executive with more than three decades of leadership experience across environmental policy, renewable energy, national parks, and nonprofit organizations. He is President and CEO of American Rivers, where he leads efforts to protect and restore rivers and advance policies that support healthy waterways and resilient communities. Previously, he served as CEO of the American Wind Energy Association, helping lead its evolution into the American Clean Power Association and representing the renewable energy industry on policy and market development.

Tom previously served as President of the National Parks Conservation Association, where he led the organization for 15 years, following his tenure as President and Executive Vice President of the Audubon Society of New Hampshire. Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Air and Radiation, including Deputy Assistant Administrator, Chief of Staff, and Special Assistant. He began his career as a Senior Consultant at Arthur Andersen & Co. Tom holds an MBA from Stanford University and a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College. His experience spans environmental advocacy, conservation, clean energy, public policy, organizational leadership, and board governance.
