Sanjeev Sharma is a globally recognized technology executive, author, and former IBM Distinguished Engineer with more than two decades of experience leading enterprise-scale transformations across artificial intelligence, DevOps, cloud, and data engineering. As Founder and Principal of Data Capital Labs, he partners with large enterprises and innovative startups to accelerate and operationalize AI strategies for tangible business impact. His career includes senior leadership and advisory roles at organizations such as IBM, Dell, and Truist, where he has designed and deployed high-performance AI platforms, GPU clusters, and large-scale software and data science infrastructure.

A pioneer in DevOps and cloud transformation, Sanjeev launched IBM’s DevOps practice in 2012 and became the company’s first Distinguished Engineer for DevOps. He is the author of influential industry books including DevOps For Dummies (first and second editions) and The DevOps Adoption Playbook, which was recognized as Best DevOps Book in 2017. His expertise spans applied AI fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic AI systems, and modern cloud architectures across Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, and IBM Cloud. As a Senior Executive Fellow at The Digital Economist, Sanjeev contributes to the Applied Artificial Intelligence workgroup, focusing on translating emerging AI technologies into scalable, ethical, and globally relevant solutions. A frequent speaker, blogger, and collaborator with universities and standards bodies, he brings a practitioner-led, systems-oriented perspective to advancing enterprise AI adoption and platform engineering maturity.
