About

Dr. Nikhil Varma is an Associate Professor of Management at Ramapo College of New Jersey, with over twenty years of experience spanning operations and supply chain management, blockchain, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and sustainability. With academic training in Computer Science, Business Administration, and Service Design, he works at the intersection of technology and business to advance decentralized, equitable digital ecosystems. His research explores how machine learning, blockchain, and IoT can enable inclusive value creation aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

A global voice on blockchain’s role in economic transformation, Nikhil previously served as Head of Ecosystem Success (India) at the Algorand Foundation, where he supported organic ecosystem growth and the development of decentralized applications addressing real-world challenges. He has also held guest professorships at IIT Delhi and Molde University College, contributing to international teaching and research at the nexus of emerging technologies and sustainability. As Non-Executive Chair and Senior Executive Fellow in Digital Assets and Blockchain at The Digital Economist, Dr. Varma leads work on strategic fintech innovation and blockchain-enabled frameworks for sustainable and equitable economies. He is currently authoring Blockchain Capitalism, which examines how decentralized technologies can reshape twenty-first-century economic systems to reduce inequality, instability, and concentration of power.
